This project began as a bare hillside with big potential. Through careful grading and soft-contoured berming, we shaped the land to support passive water infiltration and long-term slope stability. We installed timber steps that follow the natural grade, a smart drip-irrigation system, and a French drain to manage runoff. We then enriched the soil with compost and mulch before planting seven fruit trees with companion planting understory for biodiversity. We surrounded the orchard with deer-tolerant pollinator plants to further support fruit production. Enclosed in a simple, sturdy hog panel fence, this orchard is designed not just for harvest — but for habitat, resilience, and decades of abundance.
