About Sustain With Me Landscapes
Sustain With Me Landscaping is a woman-owned, values-driven business rooted in the East Bay and deeply committed to creating regenerative outdoor spaces that heal and nourish. We specialize in transforming gardens, orchards, and landscapes into self-sustaining ecosystems using permaculture design, California native plants, and sustainable maintenance practices.
Our mission is clear and urgent: to weave sustainability into the fabric of daily life by restoring the natural balance of our environment—one thriving, productive landscape at a time. We approach every project with reverence for nature, a sharp eye for design, and a determination to deliver high-quality work efficiently and with care.
As we grow rapidly, we're building a team of aligned individuals who not only work hard but work with heart. We are currently seeking a dedicated Garden Maintenance & Installation Manager who can help lead the way.
The Role: Garden Maintenance & Installation Manager
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who brings horticultural expertise, practical installation skills, and a deep love for regenerative land care. You’ll be responsible for managing garden and orchard health, overseeing installations, and supporting a small team—all while maintaining speed, quality, and alignment with our mission.
You will work closely with the founder, Amelia, and will help guide the team through an exciting phase of growth. This role is designed to grow into a full-time, benefits-eligible position as the business expands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead with Vision and Efficiency: Oversee and mentor 1–2 field staff, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
- Garden & Orchard Stewardship: Perform regular assessments and create maintenance plans rooted in ecological and permaculture principles.
- Drive Project Execution: Help implement small to mid-size installation projects (two large ones are upcoming), ensuring timely, beautiful results.
- Team Development: Foster a supportive, growth-oriented work environment, with continuous learning in sustainable landscaping practices.
- Safety & Tool Management: Ensure safe use of power and hand tools (chainsaws, pruners, weedwackers, etc.) and uphold OSHA-aligned practices on job sites.
- Communication & Collaboration: Work in close partnership with Amelia to align schedules, priorities, and client expectations.
Who You Are:
- Experienced in horticulture, with strong plant ID skills (especially edibles and California natives).
- Comfortable managing and motivating a small team.
- Skilled in using and maintaining landscaping tools and equipment.
- Physically able to lift 60 lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions.
- Grounded in regenerative landscaping values and always eager to learn.
- Responsible, reliable, and ready to grow with a mission-led company.
- Experienced with irrigation installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Bonus: Experience in carpentry, masonry, or hardscaping.
Position Details:
- Employment Type: W-2 employee
- Hours: Starting part-time with immediate growth potential
- Compensation: $30–$35/hour DOE
- Schedule: Flexible with some fixed project dates but definitely Fridays
- Benefits: Health benefits planned as we grow to full-time hours; workers’ comp and employee protections included
