Our Work
Berkeley, Ember Compliant, Edible, and Native Plant Oasis
This installation in the heart of Berkeley brings together beauty, utility, and sustainability in one compact space. A custom redwood raised bed brims with edible plants, while a locally sourced rock retaining wall anchors the landscape with natural texture. Thoughtful features like an outdoor sink, a hand-crafted herb spiral, and a clean-lined metal deer fence blend function with minimalist design. A graceful flagstone path guides you through the space, past an espaliered fruit tree and carefully selected artisan pots — handmade by small-scale artists in Mexico, supporting traditional craft and small business.
This project was also inspired by ember-safe landscaping principles. All vegetation was kept out of the critical 5-foot perimeter around the home, and we intentionally avoided wood in the fencing and trash enclosure to prioritize fire resilience. The result is a space that’s not only beautiful and functional, but also rooted in ecological responsibility and long-term care.

Walnut Creek Native Landscape Refresh
This backyard native garden was in need of a refresh to make the paths and garden beds more accessible, as well as to give the plants more space. Now these clients can enjoy their backyard oasis filled with native flowers and pollinator habitat. We love to work with native gardens like these!

Oakland Backyard Urban Homestead Enclosure
We designed and installed this rodent-proof vegetable bed enclosure for this Oakland client. Working with her budget, we only built this element of the design, leaving the rest as a DIY plan. We’re excited to see her project grow, especially as her mission is to be able to grow enough food to share!
